On the first day of school

On the first day of school,
There’s excitement in the air,
With backpacks full of supplies,
And brand new clothes to wear.

As we walk through the halls,
We see faces all around,
Some familiar, some new,
But all waiting to be found.

Making friends is important,
So let’s give it a try,
We’ll smile and say hello,
And not be shy.

We’ll share our favorite things,
And talk about our day,
We’ll play games at recess,
And laugh and shout hooray!

We’ll learn and grow together,
As friends we’ll always be,
On this first day of school,
A new journey we will see.
