Lizzy the Lizard

Once a little girl went outside to play
And stumbled upon a friend one day
A lizard, tiny and green
The prettiest reptile she’d ever seen

At first, the girl was a little scared
But the lizard just stood there, unimpaired
It looked up at her with curious eyes
And the little girl let out a surprised “Hi!”

The lizard scurried around her feet
And the girl couldn’t help but think it was neat
She watched it move so gracefully
As it crawled up the nearby tree

The girl named her new friend Lizzy
And they played together until it got busy
The little girl had to go inside
But she promised Lizzy she’d come back outside

Now every day, when the sun is bright
The little girl and Lizzy reunite
They chase each other through the grass
And the girl’s happiness seems to last

For she knows that she has found a friend
In this little lizard, until the very end
And no matter where they may roam
Lizzy will always be her home.
