The Little Rain Drop

“Today’s our day” said the little rain drop as he sat in the clouds. “I can feel it”. “You don’t know what you are talking about” said his friend Tom, a much larger rain drop. “I have been here for weeks and we have not left yet” Tom said.

The little rain drop was sad. He had been sitting in that cloud for days, just waiting to fall down to earth with his friends. Every day it seemed like more and more rain drops joined him in the clouds.

“This cloud sure is getting heavy” he heard coming from behind him. The little rain drop tried to turn and see who had said it, but there were so many rain drops packed so tightly together that he could barely move.

Suddenly a loud deep voice announced “Rain drops get ready”. The little rain drop knew it was really happening. “See? I told you today was our day”, the little rain drop said to Tom with a little smile on his face because he knew he was right.

“10, 9, 8, 7” the deep loud voice announced. The little rain drop was getting excited. “I guess you were right” said Tom. The deep loud voice continued “3, 2, 1, go!”. The little rain drop felt a pit in his stomach as he fell through the air. He looked around. All his fellow rain drops were falling to earth.

“This is the day we have been waiting for!” the little rain drop yelled out loud. He could hear the thunder rumbling as if to announce them leaving the cloud. Lightning flashed and light up the ground and the little rain drop could see what looked like a lake below.

“Head towards that lake” Tom yelled. The little rain drop was happy that he had not lost his friend Tom. “I am trying” the little rain drop yelled back as he twisted and turned to try to aim towards the lake. Older and much heavier rain drops kept bumping into him as they passed by making their way to earth. “Hey, watch it!” the little rain drop said.

The lake was getting closer. They had been falling for what seemed like forever. The little rain drop looked around at the ground and could see people running to get inside cars and buildings. They did not want to get hit by the rain drops and get wet.

The little rain drop had finally moved himself to where he would fall into the lake. The lake seemed much larger than when he first saw it. He was actually getting scared. With every moment, the lake seemed to look bigger and bigger.

“I’m going in!” He heard Tom yell. The little rain drop looked down as all his friends dropped into the lake, leaving little circles in the water where they fell.

The little rain drop heard Tom yell “Yippeee” as he crashed into the lake and disappeared from view. “Ahhhhh!” the little rain drop yelled as he too crashed into the lake, leaving a little ripple on the top of the water.

The little rain drop looked around and saw alot of his friends from the cloud swimming around in the water having the time of their lives. He say Mary, Bob, Jim, Timmy, Jackie, and Dustin, but he could not find Tom.

Suddenly the little rain drop felt something bump him. “Hey there buddy” here heard Tom say from behind him. “Doesn’t it feel good to be out of that cloud?” “It sure does” said the little rain drop as he joined Tom in swimming around the lake with all their friends.
